The recent removal of the Greens Way flyover has changed how people can access the town centre, but also leaves empty and unused land in an important and visible location.

A significant building within the town that could play an enhanced role in the town centre activity and facilities.

The area around the existing bus interchange has huge potential to deliver improved facilities for bus passengers, space for new facilities and development, and an improved entrance to the town centre and Market Hall.

Mexborough Railway Station is an important asset for the town, but it can be difficult to access, especially on foot, bike or bus.

The junction of Main Street, West Street and Swinton Road form the western gateway to the High Street and the pedestrianised area of the town centre.

Currently, Greens Way is a wide dual carriageway which is difficult for pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely and conveniently, and creates a barrier between the town centre, and the station, canal and other uses further south.

Mexborough currently has a bus station on Greens Way, but it only serves eastbound buses, has poor waiting and interchange facilities, no cycle parking, and is oversized.
